What to Do When a Tree Limb Falls

Info, Tips

We are getting to a time of the year when weather has a direct impact on your daily life – and on your trees. Icing, high winds, and snow storms can cause trees and limbs to fall in your yard.

Trees will fall, that’s what they do, especially if you don’t get them removed. When you have a large tree, it is just a risk you take. It can be obvious that some trees are falling, especially when you can see the decay. Sometimes, a freak accident can occur and limbs or trees can fall when they are still healthy.

Your Tree Fell – Now What?

Even if it isn’t quite a surprise, there are some things you need to do:

Call 911. You first should make sure that everyone is safe. Then, check for power because there is a chance that the line was taken out in the process.  If there is a line down, do not go near it at all. Call 911 and t hen the power company. They will be able to tell you what to do next – whether it be to call a fire company or a tree care service. Only go near the tree if you are instructed to do so.

Call Menchhofer Tree Care. If there isn’t any damage to your yard, then you can go ahead and call up a tree care center. If there is damage, you will have to call your insurance agency and have someone come out. In the meantime, get a bid on the tree removal job, but we won’t be able to do any work until the insurance adjuster is out.

Show the insurance adjuster the bid. They will be able to sign the contract for services and talk to the adjuster.

Proceed with the tree removal. Typically, a removal shouldn’t take more than a day or two, depending on the size of the tree. We will be able to talk to you about why your tree might have fallen and what you can do next time to prevent it from happening.
